Day Four of 40 Days for Life

Dear blog reader,
I will be on vacation for about two weeks. I don't know if I'll have computer capability while I'm gone. Please continue with the prayers even if I can't cut and paste them to you. The prayers are helping us to humble ourselves before the Lord. A prerequisit for Healing Our Land.

"EL PASO, TX: We are excited about the works our Heavenly Father is performing in our cities & nation. On the 27th there were 3 saves & 2 of those babies were twins. Amen! We are trusting in many more saves, conversion of souls & healing for post-abortive men/women.

SARASOTA, FL: At least 40 people -- a record -- participated Friday in the weekly abortion-day Prayer Vigil at Sarasota Planned Parenthood. That's because it melded with the 3rd day of 40 Days for Life, a vigil of prayer at PP every day through November 4. Instead of sidewalk counselors for the usual 2 morning hours, sidewalk counselors were there from 8am through 4pm. And 3 couples -- a record for one day -- decided not to stay for an abortion!

PENSACOLA, FL: One of Pensacola's abortion clinics was not open today. Today is the day (Friday) that the both clinics in Pensacola perform abortions. Praise the Lord! If they are closed each Friday for the next six weeks, that is a lot of lives saved and a lot of revenue lost for the abortionists. God is working here and across the country.

FARGO, ND: My mind is spinning. God is moving so fast I can hardly keep up!!! Our Bishop is now doing radio spots and they are powerful. He has met with his Priests strongly encouraging them to get involved. A secular radio station is announcing DAILY what hours are needed and any update from the [vigil] site or whatever need we may have. North Dakota Family Alliance is involved in writing letters to the editor. An individual from France was so touched by our website and our Bishop's statement that he had to give usa call. Heart after heart is being touched as you can read on our web site: http://www.40daysforlifend.com/ Doors are opening where no doors were open before. I am totally in awe. What a mighty God we serve!

SACRAMENTO, CA: It's hitting the middle of 6 am now... but just a half hour ago I was kneeling on a "picnic blanket," rosary in hand, my eyes half open, smiling in contentment & staring up at the sky at this strangely bright silver star in the sky that appeared from my eye, two inches from the roof of the Planned Parenthood building...Everything is so organized and peaceful while praying, very much contrary to what I thought it would be like. God is good. Just goes to show, I need to trust Him more. He sets you free. I am not a morning person, but I have never been more alive than after praying fervently during these last couple of hours!

DALLAS, TX: While I was at the 40 Days for Life site, I realized that it was all God's doing for me to be there. There were four of us there, Gracie, Nancy and her son, Lawrence. I was praying when Nancy and Lawrence told me that a car was waiting on the curb. I went up to the window and two young women were in the car. The driver told me she had been to the abortion mill to have an abortion, but when she saw our display, she decided to come back to see what we were doing. I told her we were having a peaceful, prayerful vigil in an effort to stop Planned Parenthood from performing abortions. She then told me she was pregnant and had been there to have an abortion. She also told me she"could not have the baby" because the father was 28 and she was 36. I told her, "well, you already have the baby. And it's going to be born. It's just up to you whether it's going to be born dead or alive." I handed her the literature I had in my hand and she said, "See, I look at the pictures of these babies and it does something to me." I told her that her baby was hoping that she would be his or her "hero" and not go through with the abortion. I also told her that I was also once an unwed mother and abortion-minded and how my oldest daughter is now such a blessing to me. I asked her if she had ever heard of the Reverend Ricky Rush. She said yes, of course, and I told her how my daughter was once the only non-black lead singer in his 700 member Gospel Choir. She was amazed! I said, "Well, God has a plan for your baby just like He had a plan for mine and you should not interrupt God's plan by aborting this child that God has willed into your life. He could have prevented you from getting pregnant, but He didn't, so obviously, God wants this child to be born." She then said that what I was telling her was giving her chills and that she knew now she could never abort her baby. I gave her the White Rose Crisis Pregnancy Center information and her friend told her she would show her how to get there. She went away thanking us for being there and saying there was no way she would abort her baby. I went back to Nancy, Lawrence and Gracie and we all hugged and thanked God for this wonderful deed God had done with this girl. Nancy and Lawrence said they were so grateful that their parish coordinator had signed them up to come and pray, otherwise they would have never had this wonderful experience. I just thanked God over and over again for His mercy and love for this little one and the Mommy that would someday realize how close she came to missing out on the blessing of being a Mom. 40 DAYS FOR LIFE: DAY 4, SEPTEMBER 29

SCRIPTURE: "Have I not written to you excellent things of counsels and knowledge that I may make you know the certainty of the words of truth, that you may answer words of truth to those who send to you?" -- Proverbs 22:20-21

REFLECTION: We live in a post-modern culture today that is void of truth. No wonder so many behave as "children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting." (Ephesians 4:14) The enemy has more than a foothold in the lives of young people today -- he has a stronghold. He has taken the most vulnerable minds among us, our children, and told them that evil is good and good is evil. They have bought the lies from the father of lies, most particularly, in the area of sexual immorality. The consequences of the lies surface in sexually transmitted diseases, out of wedlock pregnancies, and broken hearts. The lies and deceit continue when they enter the abortion clinic. "It's just a blob of tissue," they are told. "Abortion is the best decision for you at this time in your life." "Abortion is safer than carrying a baby full term". "In just a few hours, it will all be over". Once again the consequences surface -- the loss of their baby, the emotional and sometimes physical complications, regrets that are lifelong. We have a duty to educate ourselves with the truth about abortion and its consequences. We must stay on top of the facts about sexually transmitted diseases. We need to have an open heart and a listening ear to learn about the latest trends in relationships among young people today. We are to equip our minds with God's truths on sexuality and the boundaries He has set for our good. Why? So we are prepared to answer questions and give wise counsel when the opportunity arises. Most importantly, we must prepare to introduce others to THE TRUTH that is Jesus Christ so that "speaking thetruth in love, they may grow in every way more and more like Christ who is the head of his body, the church."(Ephesians 4:15)

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, Your Word is the most liberating truth in the world. We sometimes forget that part of your greatest commandment is to love You with all of our MINDS. Lord, we confess that our lack of knowledge about your Word and about this world system puts us at adisadvantage against the enemy. Lord, empower and enable us with Your wisdom as we seek your truth for our daily lives. We surrender to the teaching of Your Holy Spirit as we become your vessels of truth. In the name of your Son Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. AMEN.

Day Three of 40 Day Prayer for Life

"More praise reports keep coming in about lives saved during the first two days of 40 Days for Life!

In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a woman went into the abortion facility intending to make her appointment for an abortion. She was brought there by her friend who did not want her to do it. The friend was asked to leave the clinic when the abortion workers heard she was not in favor of the abortion.

The friend found herself outside on the sidewalk talking with a sidewalk counselor and about eight 40 Days for Life volunteers. They prayed together for the woman who was in the facility for the abortion. The friend then asked for information and ideas on how to talk the other woman out of what she intended to do. The volunteers gave her multiple sources of help and information, and she went inside. The woman who had planned on the abortion came out of the clinic and said it was "creepy" inside and that the workers did not offer her any help at all. She decided to let her child live. Praise God!

Additionally, I've gotten emails about several different abortion facilities being closed and not performing abortions on their normally scheduled days in cities that are conducting 40 Days for Life. The news also just broke about the closure of a filthy, run-down abortion facility in Atlantic City, NJ, called Alternatives. This was not a 40 Days for Life location, but I don't believe it's any coincidence that the facility went out of business and the abortionist surrendered his license during 40 Days for Life.

And the Aurora, Illinois, Planned Parenthood abortionfacility is STILL closed, on day 50 of their local 40Days for Life effort! God is working in a mighty way throughout America, andI'm thrilled that each of us have this opportunity to join Him in His work! Here's the devotional for Day 3

40 DAYS FOR LIFE: DAY 3, SEPTEMBER 28

SCRIPTURE: "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life."-- 1 Timothy 1:15b-16

REFLECTION: As a post-abortive woman, I (Carmen Pate) made this my life verse following my brokenness before the Lord and the receiving of His forgiveness. This verse is a reminder to me that I must never waste God's mercy towards me, but instead allow Him to use me as an example of His love, His patience, and His amazing grace. The Apostle Paul was the first to identify himself as the "chief of sinners." Certainly, it is easy for us to point to his record of sins and understand why he would claim this label as his own. We may wonder silently if it might more appropriately be the label for the abortionist inside the clinic, or the Planned Parenthood counselors, or the NARAL activists. But God who knows your heart may be nudging you right now asking, "What about you"? Paul spells out the case for all of us when he writes,"Once you were dead because of your disobedience. But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. It is only by God's grace that you have been saved. So, God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of His grace and kindness toward us shown in all He has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2: 1, 4-5, 7 NLT) Truly, we are all trophies of His grace. May we live worthy of the honor He has given us to be heirs in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, the Lord Our Righteousness, may we be ever mindful of your amazing grace in each of our lives that allows us access to Your throne. You deem us worthy only because of the sacrifice of your precious Son, Jesus Christ, and our acknowledgment of His saving blood. May Your love that drew us to Yourself, be evident as we love others. Expose any area of pride that would keep us from reaching out in kindness to hurting hearts. Cleanse us Lord, and prepare our hearts to gather more trophies for your kingdom. In Christ's name we pray, AMEN.

Day Two of 40 Days of Prayer for Life

The prayer days are already having wonderful results. Please read the testimony below and then use the guide to pray.

"God Almighty is working miracles across America through the faithfulness of His people during 40 Days for Life!

From Durango, Colorado, we learned that one woman left the abortion facility after sitting in her car forabout 15 minutes, while three 40 Days for Life volunteers prayed fervently for her.Then the abortionist didn't show, so five other mothers waiting for abortions left. As many as six babies may have been saved!

In Richmond, Virginia, a woman going in for an abortion rejected information from sidewalk counselors, but a post-abortive woman reached out to her and said,"Please don't make the same mistake that I have. You can chose a better way, God's way, the way of life! Please won't you let your baby live, and love you?" The woman went in to the abortion facility anyway......A few more minutes went by, and the young woman came out of the clinic. She hugged the sidewalk counselor, took contact information from her regarding where she could get medical and emotional support, and got into her father's car. As she drove away, she glanced over at the 40 Days forLife participants and mouthed the words "thank you" as tears streamed down her father's face. Then they were gone.

As the 40 Days for Life volunteer shared in the email she sent me, "It all happened in a matter of minutes, precious minutes given to her by Christ to reconsider what she was doing. It was my first experience of what this work is all about, and it made my first day involved in the pro-life movement one I will not soon forget." Wow!

SCRIPTURE: "Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them." -- Psalm 34: 3-4, 7

REFLECTION: Fear of what man may do to us, or fear of what the future may hold, keeps many in bondage to the lies of the enemy. A young woman may fear her boyfriend won't love her if she doesn't engage in promiscuity. The young woman who has an unplanned pregnancy may fear what the future holds because she has believed the lie that her life and her future are over because of the child in her womb. The post-abortive woman may fear she is unworthy of love and deserves to be punished by both God and man. We may fear what people think or what man may do to us because we stand for righteousness, and stand in the gap for the unborn and the woman with child. But Scripture tells us to fear the Lord! In fact, the theme of the book of Proverbs is that the fear of the Lord is the starting point and essence of wisdom. In this context "fear" is a reverence for God expressed in submission to His will. It is a reverent awe of who God is and what He does. When we understand His unique and immutable characteristics -- that He is Omniscient (all-knowing), Omnipotent (all-powerful) andOmnipresent (everywhere present) -- our reverent awe is a natural response. When we add to that knowledge the fact that God is Love, His ways are perfect, and "All things work together for good to those who love God, to those whoare the called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28),we understand why this "perfect Love casts out fear" of the enemy, of man, and what tomorrow may bring our way. Let's put fear in proper perspective as we magnify the Lord and cast all our fears at His feet.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, you are the Lord Our Peace. Help us to reflect your peace as we encounter those today who are in the bondage of fear. We acknowledge that you are indeed all-knowing, all-powerful, and everywhere present. Thank you for your love and faithfulness to us. As we commit to fear You alone, give us your wisdom and discernment to help calm the fears of others and redirect them to Truth, and a reverent awe of You. In the name of Your Son, Jesus, upon whose name we can boldly come before You, we pray, AMEN.

May God continue blessing America!

40 Days For Life PLEASE PRAY!!!!!

Today is the second day of a 40 day campaign to stop abortion and restore righteousness to our nation. Please pray for the next 40 days for God to heal our land and remove the sin of abortion
from our midst.

"40 DAYS FOR LIFE: DAY 1, SEPTEMBER 26

SCRIPTURE: "If My people who are called by My name will humblethemselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn fromtheir wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, andforgive their sin and heal their land."-- 2 Chronicles 7:14

REFLECTION: God was responding to Solomon's prayer for the people of Israel, during the dedication of the newly built temple. The people of Israel had repeatedly turned from God and each time, God would turn them over to an enemy. The people would cry out to the Lord and God would deliver them, only to see them turn away from Him once again. This cycle was repeated over and over, demonstrating the amazing mercy of Our Lord on each occasion. (See 2 Chronicles 6: 36-40)

Not unlike God's chosen people of Israel, the body of Christ, which is His church, must humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, if we expect God to hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land. The need for repentance has not been greater since the Supreme Court decision of Roe vs. Wade in 1973. The number one cause of death in America is the needless sacrifice of our children at the altar of convenience called abortion.

Conservative estimates put the number of deaths at nearly 47 million in America alone. And lest we think this is an issue outside the church walls, 43% of women obtaining abortions identify themselves as Protestant, and 27% identify themselves as Catholic. One in four women has at least one abortion by the age of 45 -- both non-Christian and Christian alike. Where was the voice of Truth -- the church?

Mary Comm of In Our Midst Ministries, Inc. sums up the issue best as she writes, "We (the church) have been an unintentional accomplice to the millions of lives lost and to the multiplied millions of lives devastated by abortion. We didn't want them to abort. We didn't mean for them to abort. But, because of our lack of knowledge, because of our fear, we have continued to stand by and do nothing. We, God's hands and feet in this dark and hurting world, have been unintentional, unknowledgeable accomplice, but an accomplice nonetheless."

May today mark the beginning of change within the church, as God's people, in unity, seek His forgiveness.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, as our sovereign and powerful Creator,You have blessed this nation because of our Founding Fathers intentional plan to worship You alone. We have turned our backs on you and your principles in your Word. We have allowed man to usurp Your role as God over life and the number of our days. You are justified in removing your hedge of protection and turning us over to our decadence. But we come to you in brokenness and repentance over our sin. We cry out for Your mercy and ask you to remove the scourge of abortion from our land. Use us as your vessels, Lord, to bring the light of Your Truth to our nation once again. Because of Christ and in His Name we pray, AMEN

"ENDA (H.R. 2015) could enshrine "sexual orientation" in federal law
Call Your U.S. Representative today to oppose ENDA

The Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) H.R. 2015 is likely to be voted on this week in the U.S. House. ENDA is aimed at providing heightened protections for a particular sexual behavior- homosexuality. It would grant special consideration on the basis of "sexual orientation" or "gender identity" that would not be extended to other employees in the workplace. That could spell trouble for Christian business owners, churches and faith-based groups. Proponents of the bill quickly point to "religious exemptions" in the bill, but most agree that it is a sham.

Here is more information about ENDA H.R. 2015 from our friends at the Family Research Council:

ENDA affords special protection to a group that is not disadvantaged.
The issue is not job discrimination: It is whether private businesses will be forced by law to accommodate homosexual activists' attempts to legitimize homosexual behavior.

The first "religious exemption" clause is very narrow and offers no clear protection to church-related businesses: Religious schools or charitable organizations, religious bookstores, or any business affiliated with a church or denomination fall outside this narrow definition, and could presumably be required to hire homosexual applicants.

The second "religious exemption" clause fails to offer protection for all hiring by church-related organizations or businesses. The position of a teacher of religion at a church-related school would be exempt, but, e.g., that of a biology teacher would not. Thus, most of the teachers and staff at a religious school would be covered by ENDA, which means that the church would be forced to hire homosexual applicants for such positions-despite the fact that their lifestyle would be in direct opposition to the religious beliefs of the organization or company.

It is unlikely that the "religious exemption" included in the bill would survive court challenge: Institutions that could be targeted include religious summer camps, the Boy Scouts, Christian bookstores, religious publishing houses, religious television and radio stations, and any business with fifteen or more employees.

ENDA violates employers' and employees' Constitutional freedoms of religion, speech and association. The proposed legislation would prohibit employers from taking their most deeply held beliefs into account when making hiring, management, and promotion decisions. This would pose an unprecedented intrusion by the federal government into people's lives.

ENDA would approvingly bring private behavior considered immoral by many into the public square. By declaring that all sexual preferences are equally valid, ENDA would change national policy supporting marriage and family.

Take Action
Clearly, this is an enormous threat to the freedom of religion and also places unfair burdens on businesses, which should be allowed to make employment decisions based on their religious convictions and business needs.

ENDA, HATE CRIMES AND THE WEB of all things

The onslaught against life liberty and the persuit of happiness continues. The newest thing is a tax on the internet. This is from "Defending the Internet from Duplicative, Discriminatory and Hidden Taxes". (and I thought 'New York Family Poicy Council' was a long name) They state:

Your Internet access has always been tax free. But if Congress doesn't act by November 1, the government can start taxing internet access. Taxes on your phone, wireless and cable bills are already too high. Help keep the internet tax free. Americans want more access and lower prices for high-speed internet services. Regulating and taxing Internet use isn't the answer. America needs a permanent tax-free Internet.

We've been warning you this summer about the danger of the Hate Crimes bill, introduced by Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.), and the threat it poses to our constitutional rights, especially as Christians. More than 100,000 concerned Americans have signed the "Hate Crimes and ENDA" petition.

Sens. Kennedy and Gordon Smith (R-Ore.) are attempting to re-attach the hate crimes bill to the Defense Authorization bill. They claim hate crimes are relevant to defense spending, which deals with the war on terrorism, because Kennedy has labeled hate crimes "domestic terrorism." This threat could not be clearer and our opposition to this bill must be heard on Capitol Hill.

In addition, the other bill that is part of this petition drive, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), is on the move and threatening businesses, Christian ministries and families across the country. ENDA will provide federal protection for homosexual, bisexual, transgendered and transsexual employees in the workplace. This means that a Christian church or ministry could be forced to hire a person whose life does not match the morality policies established by the ministry. Or, your children could walk into their classroom to find their male teacher wearing a dress and makeup. Clearly, this is an enormous threat to the freedom of religion and also places unfair burdens on businesses, which should be allowed to make employment decisions based on their religious convictions and business needs.

You've already signed the "Hate Crimes and ENDA" petition, but we need you to help oppose these bills by doing two things:

ENDA VOTE THIS MONTH

The U.S. House of Representatives will vote on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act on Sept. 19th. This bill is pernicious in that it will make it illegal for Christians to refuse to hire gay, lesbian, and transgender individuals. This is paramount to normalizing and legalizing the actions that are so plainly identified as sin in the Bible. Please pray that this ungodly bill will not pass. The Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) is coming up for a vote in the House of Representatives by the end of September. ENDA will be marked up in the House Education and Labor Committee (mark up involves adding or deleting sections to the bill) on September 19 and a vote in the full house is expected the following week.

ENDA is federal legislation designed to add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to federal law. If ENDA is signed into law, homosexuals, cross-dressers, drag queens, transsexuals, and even she-males will be considered protected minorities under federal law. ENDA applies to any business with 15 or more employees and will impact religious organizations as well.

ENDA Attacks Business Practices

Business Insurance magazine (September 10, 2007) published an article on the confusion that will be caused by ENDA to businesses. According to this magazine, employer groups are concerned about “gender identity” language in the bill. Bill Layman with the Society for Human Resources Management expressed concern over adding “gender identity” to the bill: “There is a relatively vague definition in the text of the bill, but we are concerned that the definition will present significant challenges on a day-to-day basis to employers in fulfilling the requirements of the bill.”

Mike Eastmen with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce asked: “Gender identity – what does that mean?” Phil Berkowitz, a partner at Nixon Peabody L.L.P. in New York also expressed concern over “gender identity.” “It [ENDA] really does aggressively seek to legislate social notions.”

Gerald L. Maatman, Jr., a partner with Seyfarth Shaw L.L.P. in Chicago said: “The lack of a strict definition (of gender identity) will lead at the beginning, after enactment of the law, to litigation searching for the definition of who is and who is not covered.”
Contact every Christian business owner you know to let them know about this dangerous legislation.

Phony Religious Exemption To Silence People Of Faith
ENDA has a phony “religious exemption” designed to silence people of faith over this bill, but the “exemption” only applies to religious institutions that are engaged in the spreading of religious doctrine or belief. ENDA would, however, apply to other religious institutions if the “primary” purpose of the institution is NOT the spreading of doctrine or belief. This could mean any Christian-owned business; Christian publishing companies; record labels; radio and TV stations; day care centers, etc.

ENDA must be soundly defeated. Homosexual and drag queen activists may try to “strengthen” the religious exemptions to gain passage, but the bill is fundamentally flawed and cannot be fixed.

Even if strong exemptions were added, the basic objective of the bill would still be wrong and a violation of the rights of businessmen to set their own hiring policies. ENDA actually has sections in it telling employers how they are to cater to the demands of cross-dressers and transsexuals in restroom and shower policies!

TVC has played a critical role in fighting passage of ENDA for the past decade! In fact, the Human Rights Campaign (a radical homosexual group) recently quoted from a TVC fact sheet on ENDA that we distributed on Capitol Hill to shock its supporters into lobbying strong for passage of ENDA!

Other radical homosexual web sites are reprinting our ENDA and transgender comics and ridiculing us for telling the truth about what ENDA will do to businesses and to faith-based groups.

Our goal is to derail this dangerous pro-homosexual/drag queen/cross-dressing legislation and we’ll continue fighting against it for as long as it takes. If it passes the House and Senate, then we’ll lobby the White House to have President Bush veto it.

Hate Crimes
I just saw a news piece about a man in Madison, WI who witnessed without rancour, and out of concern to someone about the sin of homosexuality. There was no hatred in his heart. This man was taken to court 5 months later and charged with hate crimes, he was fined and would have faced a year in jail had not his attorney settled out of court. The man had to pay $7,000 court costs, pay a fine, attend sensitivity classes and I believe do one year of community service. I'm not positive about the community service. He said the court mandated sensitivity classes he had to attend were run by two lesbians and the message was that homosexuality and lesbianism are normal and not sins. It it hard to believe this has happened in the United States, but it most certainly has. This is why we must call our Senators.

It would appear that the ACLU is actively seeking and soliciting people who believe they have been victims of "Hate Crimes" so they can litigate and develop a string of precedences that would bind and gag Christian witness against Homosexuality and Lesbianism if "Hate Crimes" legislation were passed on the national level. They are doing it already (see above case).

PRAY: Ask God to dismantle the ACLU, to de-fund the ACLU, and to thwart them at every turn in court.

911 and The Return

Today we remembered the infamous day when we were attacked by terrorists. Most of us remember what we were doing the day it happened. I was getting ready to leave my house for a prayer meeting when the my husband and I heard that a plane had flown into the World Trade Center. Having flown from Newark to Albany on small, low flying planes that come too close for comfort to the NY skyscrapers, I thought, it finally happened -- a small commuter plane has crashed into a skyscraper. When I arrived at the prayer meeting, I was greeted with the news that a second plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. It was then that I realized we had been attacked. We watched the news reports for awhile before we started to pray.

Please spend some time today and this week praying for the safety of the United States, and for the preservation and healing of our country. Focus on the Family is airing broadcasts all this week on terrorism. They have a very informative guest who has written a number of best selling books on terrorism. He is an Evangelical Christian and he is Jewish. Try to listen to the broadcasts this week.

I don't know if you have noticed, but the current events seem to be having Biblical significance these days. Jerusalem is becoming a cup of trembling because of the plans to give part of the city to the Palestinians. Iran has stated it wants to eliminate Israel (the little satan) and then the United States (the big satan). Russia is helping Iran develop nuclear capability. The handwriting on the wall says the world is preparing for a one world government. There are wars and rumors of wars, there is famine, drought, flood and the persecution of Christians. Global warming is causing physical changes on the earth. Everything is pointing to Jesus' Second Coming. Anyone can notice these things.

Two very significant occurrences that many may not be aware of are happening: two major Biblical cycles are ending this year -- 2007. There is a 430 year cycle that started when Israel went into Egypt. Every 430 years since then, a very significant event has happened either for Israel or in latter times for the Church. Another cycle of 490 years, which I believe started with the prediction in Daniel of when Messiah would be revealed (Palm Sunday), also ends in this year -- 2007. Every 490 years something very significant has happened either for Israel or for the Church. 2007 is a very significant year! According to two major Biblical cycles significant events should be happening this year! Pretty exciting!!!!!

Not everyone agrees on when the Rapture will take place or if there will actually even be a Rapture. I used to think the Rapture would be mid-tribulation. Now I think it will be pre-tribulation and I think, at this point, that it could be this year this fall. The Return may (will probably) occur in conjunction with one of the fall Jewish holidays which occur early this year in September and early October. I will, of course, change my mind about this being the year if I am still writing blogs later this year in November or December. And absolutely change my mine on or around January 1, 2008.

I want to encourage us all, including myself, to BE PREPARED!!! If you aren't sure you are worthy to be Raptured, please visit our Today Page, nyfamilyinfo.net/today. You will find out how to quality (Jesus said you must be born again). Then read below to stay ready.

If you are already born again, please search your heart, don't hold unforgiveness for anyone, ask God to cleanse you from bitterness, and any and all sin in your life. Confess, Repent and Be Ready. Jesus tells us to Watch and Pray. It's very exciting to think about the rapture.

Be a faithful witness. If this is the season of the Rapture or not, make every effort to spread the Good News to your family and your neighbors. And, who knows, we may be meeting each other in the air sooner than we think.

Please don't write and tell me we are not supposed to set dates for the Return. I know that and I'm not setting a date. It doesn't say we won't know the year, it says we won't know the day or the hour. I'm not saying this is the year, I am saying it could be the year because of the significant cycles.

We Salute Rev. Dr. D. James Kennedy, Chrisitan Warrior and Evangelist

It is with heavy hearts that we learn of D. James Kennedy's promotion to Eternity. Dr. Kennedy was a Pastor, a Teacher, an Evangelist, a Patriot, and a Christian Activist par excellence. When God called him into the ministry, he was an Arthur Murray dance instructor. From there, Dr. Kennedy went on to become one of the most highly educated, gifted and respected Christian ministers of our time. Under his leadership, Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church grew from 45 members to a mega church of 10,000 members. He hosted one of the most interesting and informative Christian television programs, the Coral Ridge Hour. He founded Knox Theological Seminary, Westminster Christian Academy, and the D. James Kennedy Center for Christian Statesmanship in Washington D.C. He is most widely known for his Evangelism Explosion and Reclaiming America programs.

I have always wondered what the "D" in D. James Kennedy stood for. One of the news articles about his passing revealed that the D. stood for Dennis.

Dr. Kennedy preached his last sermon on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2006. December 28, 2006, Dr. Kennedy suffered a heart attack. Complications related to the heart attack prevented him from returning to active ministry. Early Wednesday morning, Dr. Kennedy died in his sleep. Prior to his death, Dr. Kennedy spoke of Heaven stating that he would be happy to leave this life, which he called the land of the living dying, and that he looked forward to going on to Heaven, which he called the land of those who were really, really living.

The New York Family Policy Council salutes Dr. Kennedy. We thank him for the wonderful work he did while he was with us. He is greatly missed by all those who knew him and by those who have benefited from his wide reaching ministries. We look forward to being reunited with him in Heaven. In the meanwhile, we pray for the God of all Comfort to minister to Anne Kennedy and Jennifer Kennedy Cassidy, his wife and his daughter, and to all those who mourn Dr. Kennedy's passing.

Freedom of Religion Challenged by the Military

A lot of incomprehensible things are going on these days. One of these is the issue of military clergy being able to pray in Jesus' Name (or rather, not being able to pray in Jesus' Name). Who would have ever dreamed that praying in Jesus' Name would be an issue in America???

Evidently, some people are offended by the Name of Jesus and don't want to hear that name at the end, middle or beginning of Christian prayers. Who are these folks? I would guess the ACLU, Atheists, Muslims and who knows? They say it is offensive. Since when do we have the right not to be offended? Is it in the Constitution? No.

The Constitution guarantees that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise there of;" -- First Amendment. Evidently rules, regulations and policies of the Military are exempt from Constitutional scrutiny. Someone in the Military didn't get the Memo. Political Correctness is so positively Incorrect. What's the problem? Will a terrorist fire his RPG with more vigor when he hears the Name of Jesus? It's just plain ridiculous.

I guess those who object to praying in Jesus' Name have good reason to be afraid. Jesus said, 'whatever you ask in MY Name, I will do.' His Name is the most powerful name known to man. It would be wonderful if they knew this and were converted to become Jesus' followers. While we are waiting for that to happen, there is something we can do.

PRAY
Ask God to remove the restriction on Christian prayer in the military. Pray for President Bush to write an Executive Order that will allow Christian clergy to pray according to their beliefs. Pray that the petition drive cited below will cause President Bush to respond.

ACT
The American Center for Law and Justice, ACLJ, has a petition drive to persuade President Bush, our Born Again Christian President, to sign an Executive Order that would allow the Military Chaplans to pray in Jesus' Name, according to their faith. You can stop that absurd regulation by signing the petition on the ACLJ website http://www.aclj.org/. So please sign the petition and tell your friends and relatives about this issue. You can download a petition with multiple spaces for signatures. Have your friends, neighbors and relatives sign the petition also.

Father, in the Name of Jesus, I pray for Military Chaplins to be allowed to pray in Jesus' Name. Amen and amen.

R U Tired of hearing about Hillary and Barack? AFA is holding a Values Voter's Presidential Debate!! Tune In

Are we getting Fair and Unbiased news coverage? Are we getting = time??? At first it may have been interesting -- the Hillary and Barack dance, but now I'm tired of hearing about Hillary Clinton and her campaign for the White House every time I turn on the TV. Is anyone else in the race? Are any candidates out there that are not Democrats? The lopsided TV coverage we have been getting is ridiculous. So Hillary is the first woman to run, so Obama is the first African American to run, so where is Huckabee, a Protestant Minister; Mitt Romney, a Mormon; John McCain, the oldest candidate to ever run for the presidency; and were is Sam Brownback, the Senator who has steadfastly stood for morality and decency. Certainly someone besides me must be interested in these people, too.

Even the liberal Times Union has interest in this subject: in the Friday, August 31, 2007 edition they printed the article, "Democrats receive more TV coverage". They state that:

"Through July 31, the ABC, CBS and NBC morning news shows devoted 284 campaign segments to Democratic candidates and 152 to Republicans, according to the Media Research Center." Media Research Center's founder, L. Brent Bozell states, "The double standard has got to stop. What you hope is that there would be fairness. If you are going to give that much coverage to the Democrats, give it to the Republicans, too." [YES!!!]

"The disparity was most pronounced in January, with 52 stories on the Democratic Campaign and 5 for the Republicans." The nightly news casts on the commercial networks and the cable networks are also remarkably devoted to covering the Democratic candidates.

PRAY: Ask God for equal coverage. Ask Him to move the Conservative and Republican candidates to be more forceful in pushing there campaign agendas in the press and on TV.

TAKE ACTION: Call your local networks and newspapers and tell them you want to hear more about Conservative and Republican candidates; more balanced coverage of election issues and candidates; and less about every breath Hillary and Obama take.

The GOP Values Voters Presidential Debate

We've heard the questions from talking snowmen. We've gotten the crumbs that fell from Chris Matthews. Now it's our turn. It's time the candidates answer questions from the largest voting block in America: the values voters. Yes, the values voters.

A letter of invitation was sent June 4 from national pro-family leaders to both the Republican and Democrats running for president. While it seems everyone is clamoring for the same date, Sept. 17, the good news is that seven out of 10 of the Republican candidates have already confirmed their attendance to speak on that date to the most essential constituency: the values voters.
