ACLU

The ACLU is one of the greatest threats to the family and our Christian way of life. Their agenda is to promote gay marriage and the gay life style, to promote abortion at all stages of pregnancy, to expunge all Christian influence and presence from the public and political arenas. They have millions of dollars at their disposal and much of that comes from taxpayer's pockets. We are supporting with our tax dollars an organization that is dedicated to destroying the our nation's foundations and our religious heritage.

Please read the excerpts below from a letter from Matt Staver, the Founder and Chairman of the Liberty Council. I pray that you will be moved to pray for the de-funding and dissolution of the ACLU. We must ask God to Smite and destroy the ACLU and it's influence on our society.

Matt Staver States:

"The unavoidable fact is that the ACLU must be exposed, defunded and defeated if the Nation is to retain any semblance of our founding principles! And although the ACLU's attack on marriage is receiving a significant portion of their seemingly limitless resources and manpower, this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to their long-term agenda.

For instance, the ACLU is determined that your children and grandchildren MUST have the right to Internet pornography. They defend the right of NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) to rape little boys. And they are trying their best to get "under God" removed from the Pledge of Allegiance.

But this bare touches the scope of the ACLU's subversive plan that is constantly undermining the values and principles our Founding Fathers set forth for this Nation. They have put together a highly coordinated network of regional, state and local lawyers that receive extravagant funding for striking strategic blows against communities like yours and mine.

Here's how it usually works: ACLU attorneys bully their way into local city council chambers and school board meetings, terrorizing communities and their God-fearing citizens into accepting their anti-Christian agenda. In many ways, the ACLU has fully succeeded in convincing local authorities across the Nation that resistance is futile!

Tragically, the mere mention of the well-funded ACLU strikes fear in government circles, school boards and corporate boardrooms. Since they too often perceive little chance of defeating the ACLU, officials tend to back down with out putting up a fight. Then, you and I end up paying the price by having our freedoms and rights stripped away!

For years, the ACLU has coercively bullied under-funded targets (at taxpayer expense!) in a thinly veiled scheme to remove any trace of religion or morality from government and public life. And for years they've prevailed."

We must prevail against the ACLU. Our greatest weapon is PRAYER. Much prayer, much power; little prayer, little power. We must storm heaven with prayer asking God to defund and destroy the ACLU. Our National Morality and our way of life is at stake. PLEASE PRAY.

All it takes is the smell of those fries, the taste of a Happy Meal, or the sight of the Golden Arches to know that you've arrived at McDonald's. But the founder of the American Family Association says the restaurant chain has turned its attention away from inexpensive food and toward a potentially costly political agenda.

With 30,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries, you can get your chicken McNuggets fix just about anywhere. Rev. Don Wildmon, founder and chairman of the American Family Association, says McDonald's' success can be attributed to their choice to market to one American institution. "McDonald's caters to the family," Wildmon says. "They put emphasis on the children." But the pro-family leader says the world's largest fast-food restaurant chain is branching out into a new business -- promoting the homosexual agenda. "McDonald's ... has given a significant amount of money, I might mention, to become a member of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce," Wildmon explains. "Among the many other things that the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce promotes is hate crimes [legislation], the ENDA [Employment Non-Discrimination Act]. [T]hey're dedicated to pushing the homosexual agenda." In exchange for the donation, a McDonald's senior executive has been placed on the board of the pro-homosexual group. Wildmon says the chain's decision is baffling. "And this is so strange, because it's the family that McDonald's appeals to -- children's playland, you know, all the little toys, all of that," Wildmon shares. "And they are promoting a lifestyle that would utterly destroy the traditional family." The American Family Association wants to talk with McDonald's, but the company is not returning Wildmon's calls. In the meantime, he says the group is not calling for a boycott. But he is encouraging McDonald's' customers to take action (see AFA's Action Alert). "If a person really wants to make an impact," Wildmon encourages, "call your local McDonald's and say, 'As long as you are members of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, I'm going to have to seriously consider whether or not I'm going to continue to come to your restaurant and bring my family to your restaurant.'"

Wildmon says that, since three-fourths of McDonald's restaurants are owned by franchisees, if local customers contact the restaurant owners, those owners could be persuaded to call the corporate headquarters and discourage involvement with homosexual activist organizations like the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. "That person locally probably, may be sympathetic with us," Wildmon concludes. "And, if enough of those local managers get the word and they call McDonald's national, then there's a possibility McDonald's will change their stance in all of this." The AFA founder notes that two years ago, Wal-Mart joined the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. But after AFA representatives discussed the matter with Wal-Mart officials, the company allowed their position on the Chamber's board to expire -- and according to Wildmon, Wal-Mart is no longer a member of the NGLCC.

Silencing Prayer

Attorney fears 'prayer police' could be reality in NY town

A liberal special-interest group based in Washington, DC, is asking the town of Greece, New York, to dictate to its citizens what is acceptable speech for starting prayers in the town council's monthly meetings.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State is suing the town of Greece, New York, on behalf of residents Susan Galloway, who is Jewish, and Linda Stephens, an atheist.

The pair is offended because, for past decade, town council meetings have been preceded by a voluntary prayer -- typically offered by a local clergy member. Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United, argues that repeatedly offering Christian prayer at the meetings "sends a message to non-Christians that they are second-class citizens. That's not a message public officials should want to send ...." But Joel Oster, the Alliance Defense Fund senior counsel representing the town, disputes claims by Lynn's group that the council is promoting Christianity by allowing the prayers.

"[The town council does] not edit the contents of these prayers. They do not pre-review the prayers. They are not the prayer police," chides Oster. "They are just simply following a time-honored tradition established by our founding fathers ...." Oster says he is somewhat baffled by the fact that Americans United would ask the government to censor the content of voluntary prayers. "We actually believe that what Americans United are (sic) asking us to do is to violate the Establishment Clause," he continues, "because the town should not be in the business of telling private citizens how they should pray." The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Marsh v. Chambers that beginning deliberative sessions of legislative bodies with prayer is constitutional. Oster says he believes the judge in this case will stick to the Supreme Court ruling.
